OBJECTIVE
Obtain Engineering Services work in the field of Civil or Structural Engineering.
EDUCATION
- Professional Engineer License, July 2003.
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (Structural), NMSU, December 1997.
- Dean’s List, fall 1996.
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology, (Civil), NMSU, May 1996.
- Passed the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam, April 1995.
WORK HISTORY
- 2006 - Civil/Structural Engineer, Madrid Engineering
Prepared grading and drainage plans including drainage calculations, designed foundations and retaining walls, designed interior residential beams, performed manfactured home inspections, reports, and designed tie down support, and various other projects.
- 2002 - Civil/Structural Engineer, JCNNM and KSL
Prepared project management plans listing scope, deliverables, schedule, and cost with man-hour estimates. Started and completed any drawings, specifications, calculations, and bill of materials. Performed structural designs, grading and drainage, traffic control, fall protection systems, decommissioning, road design, and utility projects. Reviewed other’s work, inspected construction projects, and signed and sealed construction documents. Determined design forces according to ASCE-7 and IBC for roofs, floors, snow, wind, and seismic in my calculations. Followed LANL Engineering Standards, ACI-318, AISC, Allowable Stress Design, Load Resistance Factor Design, New Mexico State Regulations and Standards, and other codes and standards as required
- 2001 - Structural Design Engineer I, Merrick and Company.
Determined structure loads and forces such as dead, live, snow and snow drift, seismic, and wind. Calculated demand to capacity ratios for beams, columns, base plates, anchor bolts, and welds. Designed, analyzed, and devised solutions for connections, hangers, and details. Composed calculations with formal write-ups, including; references, conclusions, and supporting documents for our clients.
- 2000 - Civil Engineering Intern, Smith Engineering Company.
Determined rainfall data, developed river analysis models for sizing proposed hydraulic structures, and used Culvert Master to analyze existing structures. Created plan and profile sheets with Eagle Point 2000, ortho-topographic maps, and hydrology basin maps. Utilized AHYMO-97 to design detention/retention ponds, storm drains, and channels. Drew AHYMO schematics to represent the hydraulic models. Operated a surveyor’s level to set blue top construction staking on an airport runway.
- 1998 - Junior Engineer, New Mexico State Highway and Transportation Department.
Performed a drainage analysis utilizing the Soil Conservation Service method to size culverts for a roadway widening project. Calculated quantities and verified the pre-stressed beam design for a bridge restoration project. Designed vertical curve profiles with Micro Station and the AASHTO Design Guide. Designed three proposals for an intersection with different lane configurations using the NMSHTD driveway regulations and the MUTCD.
- 1997 - Engineering Co-op, City of Las Cruces Engineering Department.
Performed field surveys, pavement inventories and classifications, data entry, field construction quality control, and acted as temporary Project Manager. Created and edited contract documents and produced blue prints. Conducted area measurements, calculations, and cost estimates for various roadway maintenance projects. Constructed drawings of maps, road cross-sections, details, and construction rating trees in AutoCAD.
